Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Meet Dr. Tonya Cremin — Board-Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Fellowship Trained in Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Cremin provided primary care services with a focus on holistic and integrative health and osteopathy in her private practice in Fairfield County, Connecticut, from 2008-2022. She is now thrilled to offer focused treatments with osteopathy, auricular acupuncture and integrative medicine consults.

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Dr. Cremin was trained from the very beginning of her education to search for the roots of illness and to provide the least-invasive, and most holistic approach possible to every condition. DOs are fully licensed, trained and privileged physicians.

In addition to primary care, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine can train as cardiologists, surgeons, neurologists, gynecologists or any other specialty you can think of. Dr. Cremin chose Family Medicine because her passion lies in creating strong partnerships with her patients. She strives to help every individual attain optimal health, providing guidance about available treatment options, both conventional and alternative, and then deciding together which approach is best to address your concerns.

Dr. Cremin’s advanced and extensive training in Integrative Medicine provides the foundation for every single encounter. Integrative medicine combines the best of complementary and alternative approaches with conventional medicine.

Dr. Cremin’s goal is to help each patient find the right balance between these two worlds, while minimizing use of medication and high cost procedures or specialists. Dr. Cremin recommends various nutrition and lifestyle changes for most medical conditions, and often recommends vitamins, supplements, herbal/botanical medications or other natural approaches to healing, as well. However, unlike most practitioners of holistic medicine, Dr. Cremin can write prescriptions when necessary.

In addition to leading edge conventional approaches to care,  DOs also learn to diagnose and treat with a hands-on approach. The hands-on training that DOs learn is called Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or OMM. OMM involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. It is a medication free method for pain relief, but can be useful for many other conditions as well, such as migraine headaches, recurrent sinus infections, or even digestive complaints.

With OMM, Dr. Tonya Cremin applies a very gentle and calming approach to subtly realign the bones, joints, muscles, and connective tissues to encourage the body’s innate healing response. Patients have described the treatments as similar to a gentle massage and generally find them relaxing.

As one of our Integrative Services, Dr. Cremin also provides Auricular Acupuncture (a full-system of acupuncture with the points located only in the ear). Most conditions and every part of the body can be addressed with acupuncture, and patients find it very helpful to manage everything from anxiety to pain.

Dr. Cremin is passionate about your health and wellbeing. She is committed to finding the right combination of conventional and holistic approaches to help you feel better. Dr. Cremin provides trauma-informed care, and truly listens to your concerns, respects your boundaries and helps you achieve your personal goals. She will gently partner with you to guide you to optimal health. All are welcome. We look forward to meeting you soon!
